Fire Stations

Umatilla County Fire District #1 operates five strategically-placed stations throughout the District to respond to over 6,000 calls annually. On-Duty Career Firefighters and EMS Professionals currently respond from Station 21, Station 22, and Station 23. Station 24 houses the District's Fire Prevention Division & Station 25 is run by volunteer personnel as resources allow.

Seismic Retrofit & Renovations 

Following a $13.1 million bond passed by voters in 2021 and a seismic grant, the District invested several million dollars into fire station seismic upgrades, along with major interior & exterior renovations to enable 24-hour co-ed staffing. Stations 22, 23, and 24 were all renovated under budget.

In December of 2024, construction began at the Hermiston Public Safety Center, home of Station 21 and the Hermiston Police Department. The remodel included a seismic retrofit, funded by a $2.5 million grant from the State of Oregon's Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program.  This keeps the District and its equipment secure with the ability to adequately respond to emergencies in the event of a natural disaster like an earthquake. With bonds approved by votes in 2021, the District also upgraded it's living quarters to accommodate co-ed personnel, expand work & supply areas, and ensure ADA compliance.
